I keep this spiral bound book by my bed (and another at the piano) - the muse can come to you in the middle of the night, wake you from your slumbers with something so awesome that you KNOW you will remember it in the morning (hint - no you won't!) - Even Paul McCartney HAD to get "Scrambled Eggs" (Yesterday) written down - the muse gave him Yesterday in the middle of the night! So I write down what the muse gave me, with chord progressions, note ideas, arpeggios, whatever. I was using a plain legal yellow pad, but this is much better. I keep this stave book and a pencil right with it.
